2 June 2008 | TEAMPAGE 4.0: PUTTING HYPERTEXT TO WORK
Traction Software’s TeamPage 4.0 Includes New Social Networking, Innovative Moderation and Page Name Management for High Performance Group Collaboration
Providence, RI—June 2, 2008 — Traction® Software, the leading developer of products for secure, scalable, hypertext collaboration, today announced Traction TeamPage™ 4.0, the latest version of Traction’s award-winning enterprise blog and wiki software. Traction TeamPage 4.0 delivers a combination of wiki, blog, tagging and social networking capabilities that extend Traction's secure, simple and scalable hypertext platform to handle Enterprise 2.0 collaboration on the work that matters most to business: developing products, communicating with customers and sales partners, collaborating with key suppliers, tracking business issues, and competitive intelligence.
New TeamPage 4.0 benefits include:
• Personal profile pages that provide enterprise social networking and gather content by author.
• Page templates and forms to help new users get up and running very quickly.
• Moderation to help to meet enterprise needs for content approval.
• Wiki-style collaborative, work-in-progress editing that can maintain pages in draft state until they are ready to be shared with customers, partners or internal audiences.
• Page Name Management and name history that makes name linking across draft and published content simple for everyone, and "fearless refactoring" possible for wiki experts.
• Annual subscription pricing for TeamPage Server and TeamPage Workgroup configurations.
“TeamPage 4.0 addresses all the requirements of Enterprise 2.0 and adds the ability to work just as easily with many external stakeholders, such as customers or supply chain partners, across secure permission boundaries that are invisible to internal stakeholders,” said Greg Lloyd, President, Traction Software. “Traction Software's unique hypertext technology enables businesses to gain the advantages of Enterprise 2.0 collaboration - seamlessly weaving together facts and discussions that cross projects and organizations, as well as general, behind-the-firewall collaboration.”
Blog/Wiki Workspaces
TeamPage 4.0 comes with a front page and project workspaces that include hand authored links, as well as easily configured dynamic sections, capable of automatically surfacing what’s important or new. Each section can now show content events as well as tags, search results and timed-ordered content. Content event include recent page edits, drafts awaiting approval, recently published pages, and newly requested pages.
TeamPage 4.0 workspaces now include page name management and name history with a simple but scalable, model for linking by page name within or across workspaces. This makes name linking simple for everyone, and works seamlessly with the TeamPage 4.0 moderation model to support parallel draft work-in-progress versus latest-stable version requirements, as well as challenging wiki refactoring scenarios.
New, Personal Profile Pages
TeamPage 4.0 users now have personal profile pages for social networking in the context of business collaboration. Profile pages create "virtual" blog spaces for each user - displaying section-driven views of that author's contributions to all workspaces that are visible to the given reader.
Work-in-Progress versus Latest-Stable-Version Moderation
The new TeamPage moderation model allows for collaborative or formally controlled approval of page edits and comments, as well as new content. With TeamPage 4.0, moderation users who can read "drafts" in any number of blog/wiki workspaces can view, navigate and search the entire system, based on its draft state, or based on the "latest stable" published state.
New workspace permissions grant rights to read, edit, reject or publish drafts to any individual or group. With draft and publish permissions widely granted, this model supports wiki collaborative editing while keeping the "latest-stable" state available for reference until consensus is achieved. With publish permission closely held, this supports open collaboration followed by formal review and approval of important wiki pages - such as changes to a contract or approved HR policy.
The moderation model is seamlessly integrated with the TeamPage 4.0 page name and page history model to support "fearless refactoring" including search and link navigation using names, links and content of draft wiki pages prior to publication of that set of pages as the "latest-stable" version.
Access to the moderation history is also controlled by the per workspace permissions granted to individuals or groups. Members of the groups participating in draft discussions see all of the draft history, discussion and content of any draft version, while groups who are not party to the draft discussion can only see the history and content of published versions. This makes it possible to support an "anything goes" rule to enable lively internal discussion and freewheeling wiki collaboration to establish a consensus (spanning many wiki pages if necessary) and use attributed comments or a new round of working drafts to update published content that represents an important stable consensus – or a legally binding agreement with a customer.
Additional TeamPage 4.0 Features
TeamPage 4.0 also adds E-Mail Notification for immediate notification on new post or edits - including rules to fine tune the kinds of events that interest you (works for Jabber IM notification too), Article Templates to create new pages with boilerplate format and content (such as a status report or project requirements template), self-registration, inline filtering and sorting of TeamPage accounts defined by external LDAP or Active Directory queries, and many other features for TeamPage users and administrators.
New Workgroup and Subscription Pricing
Traction Software now offers annual subscription pricing for its flagship TeamPage Server product as well as a new TeamPage Workgroup configuration. The TeamPage Workgroup configuration supports up to ten active blog / wiki workspaces on the same TeamPage server and is ideal for internal collaboration in smaller organizations. The TeamPage Server license supports an unlimited number of blog / wiki workspaces, and is ideal for collaboration with customers, suppliers and across a larger number of internal groups. Annual subscriptions for TeamPage Workgroup start at $3,750 per year and TeamPage Server start at $7,500 per year – including software upgrades and support.
